These 4×4 bow shackles provide strong and secure connections between compatible recovery points, straps and other rated recovery gear. Choose between 3.25T and 4.75T working load limits to suit your vehicle and planned recovery setup.
Moreover, the wide bow shape provides more room for compatible straps and connection points than a narrow straight shackle. As a result, recovery bow shackles form an important part of a properly equipped off-road recovery kit.
4×4 Bow Shackle Options
- 3.25T bow shackle: 3.25-tonne working load limit
- 4.75T bow shackle: 4.75-tonne working load limit
- Forged heavy-duty alloy-steel body and pin
- Heat-treated and tempered for added strength
- Designed for compatible 4×4 recovery equipment
- Wide bow profile for flexible rigging options
- Permanent WLL and traceability markings required
Choose the Correct Working Load Limit
Select a shackle according to its marked working load limit rather than its size or appearance. The chosen rating must suit the vehicle, recovery method and forces expected during the pull.
In addition, every recovery component must carry a suitable rating. This includes the recovery points, strap, winch line, snatch block and any other connectors. The lowest-rated component will limit the complete recovery system.
Forged Alloy-Steel Construction
The shackle bodies and pins use forged heavy-duty alloy steel. Furthermore, heat treatment and tempering improve their strength and resistance to wear during suitable recovery use.
The rounded bow design also allows compatible recovery straps to sit more naturally inside the shackle. However, the load must remain correctly positioned to prevent harmful side loading.
Using Rated Recovery Shackles
Connect the alloy-steel shackle only to a correctly rated recovery point. Then tighten the pin securely by hand and follow the recovery equipment manufacturer’s instructions. Do not use tow balls, tie-down loops or unrated vehicle points for recovery.
Avoid placing the shackle under a sideways or uneven load because this can reduce its safe capacity. Also, never force a pin through a recovery point or use tools to modify the body or pin.
Inspection and Recovery Safety
Inspect your 4×4 bow shackles before and after every recovery. Check the body, threads and pin for bending, cracks, deep rust, worn areas or other damage. In addition, confirm that the pin turns freely and that all rating marks remain clear.
Important: Never exceed the working load limit permanently marked on the shackle. Do not use a damaged, modified or unmarked shackle. Keep everyone clear of the recovery area and avoid sudden shock loads whenever possible.
