The Jimny Gen 4 long range tank increases the vehicle’s fuel capacity from the standard 40 litres to 80 litres. Therefore, it gives overlanders more freedom to explore remote routes with fewer fuel stops. Des Sol designed this direct-replacement tank for Suzuki Jimny Gen 4 3-door and 5-door models. In addition, its bolt-on design requires no cutting or permanent changes to the chassis.
Jimny Gen 4 Long Range Tank
The Jimny Gen 4 long range tank uses 2mm Zintex steel with internal baffles for added strength and steady fuel flow. Furthermore, an epoxy powder-coated finish helps protect the exterior during long-term use.
- 80-litre fuel capacity
- Fits Suzuki Jimny Gen 4 3-door and 5-door models
- Direct replacement for the original fuel tank
- 2mm Zintex steel construction
- Internal baffles for strength and low-fuel control
- Epoxy powder-coated exterior
- 34kg dry weight
- Approximate dimensions: 865mm × 790mm × 360mm
Protection for Overlanding Use
A replaceable 12mm UHMW slider plate protects the underside of the Suzuki Jimny 80L fuel tank. As a result, the smooth plate can help the tank slide over obstacles instead of catching on them.
UHMW is a tough plastic with good impact and wear resistance. Therefore, it provides practical protection without adding the weight of a thick steel guard.
Safety and Fuel-Control Features
The tank includes a rollover safety valve and a fast-fill breather connection for the vehicle’s carbon canister. Meanwhile, internal baffles help control fuel movement and support more consistent fuel supply at lower levels.
- Rollover safety valve
- Fast-fill breather and carbon-canister connection
- Internal low-fuel baffling
- Drain plug for easier tank draining
- Replacement long fuel float arm
- Replacement exhaust mid-section included
Fuel Gauge and Driving-Range Display
The included long float arm allows the fuel gauge to move from full to empty. However, the 80-litre tank holds roughly twice as much fuel as the original tank. Consequently, each section of the gauge can represent about twice the usual driving distance.
The dashboard’s distance-to-empty function still calculates range using the original 40-litre tank capacity. Therefore, it will not show the full expected range correctly. You can roughly double the displayed figure as a guide, but actual range will depend on fuel use, load, terrain and driving style.
Direct Bolt-On Installation
The Jimny overlanding fuel tank mounts directly to the vehicle without chassis cutting. In addition, the included replacement exhaust mid-section provides the required clearance around the larger tank.
A trained technician should install the tank and inspect every fuel, breather and exhaust connection. Finally, the installer must check for leaks and confirm correct fuel-gauge operation before returning the vehicle to service.
- Confirm whether the vehicle is a 3-door or 5-door model.
- Use a trained installer for fitment.
- Check all fuel and breather connections for leaks.
- Inspect the exhaust clearance after installation.
- Recheck the mounting hardware after initial use.
Warranty: Three-year warranty on the fuel tank only. Fitment, external components and damage caused by incorrect installation or impact may fall outside the tank warranty.
