Suzuki Jimny Gen 4 Crossmember

The Jimny Gen 4 crossmember provides additional prop-shaft clearance on vehicles fitted with a 50mm suspension lift and castor-correction bushes. Its shaped clearance section helps prevent the prop shaft from striking the crossmember as the suspension moves.

Suzuki adds a crossmember below the prop shaft to support the Gen 4 Jimny’s ladder-frame chassis. However, lifting the vehicle and changing the castor angle can move the prop shaft closer to this factory part. The Des Sol design creates clearance where the two parts would otherwise meet.

Why Extra Prop-Shaft Clearance Is Needed

A suspension lift changes the position and working angle of several drivetrain and suspension parts. In addition, castor-correction bushes rotate the front axle to improve the castor angle after lifting.

These changes can move the prop shaft closer to the factory crossmember. As a result, the two parts may briefly touch when the suspension compresses over a road hump or uneven ground.

Repeated contact may create noise and marks on the prop shaft or crossmember. Therefore, the Des Sol prop shaft clearance crossmember includes a shaped section directly below the shaft.

Purpose-Built Clearance Section

The lifted Jimny crossmember creates clearance without requiring the installer to cut or grind a notch into the factory part. Its complete formed shape provides a cleaner and more controlled solution for the affected suspension setup.

However, actual clearance can vary according to the suspension height, castor parts, axle position and other vehicle changes. The installer must check the complete setup rather than relying only on the stated lift height.

Compatibility and Installation

This product is intended for Suzuki Jimny Gen 4 vehicles where a 50mm lift and castor correction cause limited prop-shaft clearance. It may not be required on a vehicle at standard suspension height.

Important: Confirm compatibility with Des Sol before ordering for a five-door Jimny, a lift height other than 50mm, castor-corrected radius arms or non-Des Sol suspension parts.

A trained installer should fit the Jimny Gen 4 crossmember. The installer must check the prop shaft through the full suspension range and confirm that it does not touch the crossmember, chassis, exhaust or nearby parts.

After installation, inspect the mounting bolts and surrounding area after the first drive. Also, check the crossmember during normal services and after hard off-road use. Tighten loose hardware and investigate any new knocking or rubbing noise before driving further.
